A valuation report states what it would cost to replace your jewellery, so you can insure it for the right amount. At Zarna Jewels it is included free with every purchase, prepared by our in-house experts and sent with your piece.
What is a jewellery valuation report?
It is a document that describes your jewellery in detail and states its full replacement value: the price you would pay to replace it with an equivalent piece from a retail jeweller. Insurers use it to decide how much cover you need and how to settle a claim for loss, theft or damage.
The replacement value can be higher than the price you paid, because it reflects the current retail replacement cost rather than an offer or discounted price.
What the report includes
- Replacement value for insurance purposes.
- Diamond details: weight, shape, colour and clarity.
- Metal details: type and purity, for example 18K white gold or 925 sterling silver.
- A photograph of your piece, so it can be identified.
Together with your diamond certificate, if you added one at checkout, the report confirms what your jewellery is made of.
How to use your valuation
- Keep the report somewhere safe, with a copy in your email or cloud storage.
- Send it to your home or specialist jewellery insurer when you arrange cover. See jewellery insurance.
- Ask your insurer how often they want valuations updated, as metal and diamond prices change over time.
Frequently asked questions
Is the valuation really free?
Yes. A valuation report is included with every Zarna Jewels purchase at no cost.
Why is the value higher than what I paid?
The report states the retail replacement cost, not the price of your purchase, which may have included an offer.
I have lost my valuation report. Can I get a copy?
Email care@zarnajewels.com with your order number and we will help.
